EZ Press Release  -- July 10, 2012 Janus Center for Psychiatric Research, a clinical research center specializing in the study of medications for psychiatric disorders, announced that they are currently enrolling two studies for adolescent ADHD for teens ages 13-17 years. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, a common developmental disorder that can begin in childhood as early as age four, and may persist into adolescence and adulthood. Some teen ADHD symptoms are: Difficulty staying focused, losing track of time, procrastinating, hyperactivity, and interrupting others. ADHD in teens can often be difficult to diagnose as symptoms can be confused with typical teen behavior. Dr. Janice Miller, Owner and Principal Investigator of Janus Center for Psychiatric Research comments, “It takes an accurate evaluation by a board certified psychiatrist to properly diagnose ADHD. ADHD medications, don’t simply help behavior, according to research they may have the potential to enhance achievement and learning.”

The Janus Center tests the effects of potential medications for ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, and treatment resistant depression. The clinicians work closely with patients to examine their medical history, symptoms and current physical condition before qualifying them as a potential volunteer. Janus Center also provides compensation to volunteer patients for most of their studies. On an average, a patient receives $40 per visit during the study.
