EZ Press Release -- May 24, 2012 One of the best parts about being in the automotive industry is seeing first-hand the constant advances in technology in our vehicles. Not just because it’s “cool” or “trendy” but because these advances can lead to better environmental performance and improved safety features.
The Mazda6 is typically known for great gas mileage, sporty handling and being fun to drive. It’s also received many accolades from top safety ratings to “sweet design.” However, according to a recent article on InsideLine.com, Mazda said the new sedan's design "will be strongly influenced by" the Takeri, which was introduced last fall at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show.
The Takeri concept made its debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show and was fitted with the Skyactiv-D engine, a stop-start system and regenerative brake system. As explained in this Chicago Tribune feature on Takeri, Mazda’s first regenerative braking system converts kinetic energy to electricity during deceleration, stores it in capacitors and then uses it to power the vehicle’s electrical equipment. (Check out the full slideshow on the Takeri concept.)
So what do you think? What excites you about the Takeri concept?
