Affordable Fuels is working on a plan to install an 18,000 gallon bulk tank plant underground in Park County in the town of Guffey. The bulk tank installation has already been approved by the Colorado Division of Oil & Gas, and Affordable Fuel is now awaiting pending approval to be granted by the Park County Planning commission. The goal is to have the approval by the end of July so the project can proceed.

Affordable Fuels plans to use the new underground tank for refilling their 3400 gallon service trucks and their 8500 gallon delivery trucks. The site will not be used for filling personal propane tanks. They will be doing road work up to the site to properly prepare it for use by the service trucks and delivery trucks.

The underground tank is a safe storage option for keeping large amounts of fuel easily accessible. Unlike above ground tanks, the tank cannot rupture, which eliminates many concerns. In the unlikely event the underground did experience problems, the propane would not ignite since it is heavy; it would sink into the ground. Since the tank is airtight, there would be no possibility of it igniting.
